Aransas Pass came home last Tuesday to host district foe El Maton Tidehaven after road losses the previous week had stopped the Panther’s 11-match winning streak.
After a close first game in which the Tigers prevailed 27-25, the Panthers came back to win the next three games 25-12, 25-18, 25-21 to take the match.
Brianna Cribb registered 30 kills to lead the Panther attack. Emily Smith also banged out 15 kills. Trini Barrera led with 21 assists and Shelby Lightsey added 17. Six different players recorded aces with Lightsey accumulating 3 and Cribb and Jennifer Poimboeuf getting 2 each.
Defensively, Lindsey Seidel (19), Cribb (14), Keeli Oliver (12), Barrera (11) and Lightsey (10) all recorded double digit digs.
Aransas Pass improved to 20-7, 5-2 in district while Tidehaven dropped to 7-14 and 0-7 in district play.
The AP junior varsity was also victorious 2-1.
On Friday, Aransas Pass was on the road again going to Vanderbilt Industrial. The Cobras took a bite out of the Panthers, with a 25-17, 25-20, 26-28, 25-19 victory. With the loss, Aransas Pass dropped to 5-3 in the District 30-2A race.
Cribb had 28 kills and 6 blocks, Barrera 20 assists and Seidel with 14 digs led the Panthers against Industrial.
