Defeat Bloomington, lose to Edna
Prior to last night’s match against second place Goliad, the Aransas Pass Lady Panther volleyball team sat in third place in District 30-2A at 6-4 with four matches to play over the next two weeks. The Panthers finish district play on the road at Refugio, Tidehaven and Palacios.
Aransas Pass defeated Bloomington last Tuesday 25-15, 25-22, 25-21. The Panthers swept the series with the Bobcats, having defeated them on Sept. 4 in AP.
Brianna Cribb had 19 kills and 14 digs for the Panthers. Lindsey Seidel recorded 14 digs and 2 aces. Trini Barrera led with 23 assists and Shelby Lightsey added 16.
The Aransas Pass Junior Varsity defeated Bloomington 25-9, 25-7.
In a contest pitting the Panthers against first place Edna on Friday, Aransas Pass was unable to stave off the Cowgirls losing the match 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 22-25. Edna is undefeated in district play.
The Panthers played hard against Edna with the serve rotating from team to team many times immediately following a service break. The Cowgirls were able to put together just enough scoring runs to secure the 3-1 victory.
Seidel led AP with 16 digs, Cribb and Jackie Jasper led in kills with 16 and 11 respectfully. Barrera contributed 22 assists and Cribb led in aces with five.
The Panthers are now off until Tuesday when they take on Refugio.
